September 21st-23rd, 2016 the Alabama Association for Gifted Children held their annual conference. Each year, the AAGC allows gifted specialists from all over the state of Alabama to nominate educators, students, and community members that make an impact on gifted children. This year, Mrs. Pickard nominated Mayor Sherman Guyton for Outstanding Community Member and Latera Woods, Ray Thompson Elementary teacher, for Outstanding General Education Teacher. Both nominations won. This is huge honor bestowed on one recipient each year.
