Rita Smith is a Gadsden native. She matriculated through the Gadsden City School System. She is a proud graduate of Litchfield High School. She attended Tennessee State University. Mrs. Smith has a unique and compassionate approach to serving as she has been a student, a parent, and an employee in the Gadsden City School System. Mrs. Smith serves as Pastor of New Destiny Christian Church, alongside her husband Councilman Steve Smith (District 2). Mrs. Smith loves children and enjoys attending the local programs in support of them. Mrs. Smith has nine grammie awards that she absolutely adores. Her union of over 37 years also blessed her with three amazing children. Mrs. Smith believes strongly in her faith and holds fast that through prayer, ALL THINGS ARE POSSIBLE
